2015 ESA Appreciation Award

This year 2014–15 International Council President Vickie Farris accepted the ESA Appreciation Award on behalf of all the members of Epsilon Sigma Alpha at the ALSAC Volunteer Awards Dinner in Memphis, TN, on July 26. Since1972, ESA members have spent hundreds of thousands of hours volunteering and raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. This year it was announced that ESA has raised more than $200 million for St. Jude since our partnership began. The St. Jude awards dinner honored the efforts of ESA and all other groups who support St. Jude’s good works. Along with Vickie, ESA members Taylor Bartenope and Suzanne Smith of Delta Chi Chapter of Gainesville, FL, and University of Florida were also in attendance to accept the ESA Volunteer of the Year award on behalf of Delta Chi Chapter. The University of Florida chapter received this award for their work during the ESA Hearts St. Jude campaign, where Collegiate ESA chapters all across the country raised money through donations and events for St. Jude during February 2014. “Being in ESA, we know that we’re working toward something so much bigger than ourselves. The patient photo shoot and the Volunteer Awards Dinner allowed us to see firsthand the lives that we’re impacting. The patients and their families are such an inspiration, and being able to interact with them was really a dream come true,” shares Suzanne.
