Celeste Webb of Omega Nu Chapter of Mattoon, IL was named the 2016 Citizen of the year by the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce for her tireless dedication to causes like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Special Olympics and Camp Hope. The list truly does go on and on. No less than eight letters were written to support her nomination. Each enumerated the hard work and dedication that she shows in her community.

“If you have been to a function at Immaculate Conception Church, Special Olympics, One-Stop Community Christmas, Shop with a Cop, Camp New Hope, Mattoon youth basketball, Food on the Move and last, but not least, St. Jude, you have probably crossed paths with this year's Citizen of the Year,” said Catherine Bovard, award presenter.

Celeste is incredibly dedicated to St. Jude. She is the ESA Junior St. Jude Coordinator and co-chairs the WMCI Country Cares Radiothon and the annual Mattoon to Peoria St. Jude Run. The run last year alone raised $131,000 for the children at St. Jude. She is also dedicated to ESA. She was unable to attend her ceremony to accept her award as she was already committed to attending ESA’s Annual Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado. Her daughters were proud to accept the award in her place. Click here to watch her acceptance speech.
